This is a snow globe that my older sister gave me one year for my birthday. She ordered it from the mall and had my name engraved on the front. I collect snow globe, so I was understandably excited to receive this. I took this photo in my neighbor's front yard.

This picture was taken in my front yard which was one of the only places with any snow at the time. The snow patch was really close to my stairs so it was hard to get different angles. It was difficult to get it in focus because of the limited space. There was also a ceramic goose right behind it that I had to avoid. There were a lot of random plants that kept getting in the shot as well.

Coca Cola BottleI got this old Coca Cola bottles from an antique shop downtown. I'm not sure exactly how old it is but it's the 75th year anniversary edition. I didn't have many problems taking this picture. The biggest challenge was deciding which side of the bottle should show. I decided on the classic Coca Cola label because it is more well known.
|
Coca Cola Bottle AltI saw a fork in some tree branches and thought I could carefully balance the bottle in it. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. The opening wasn't wide enough for the bottle to stay on it's own. To get the picture I asked my sister to hold the bottom of the bottle. Her fingers ended up in a few of the pictures but I was able to crop them out.

Snowman OrnamentThis is a picture of one of my Christmas ornaments. I had to find more snow so that the picture wasn't in the place as the snow globe pictures. I found this spot but it was more ice than snow. This made it hard to get the ornament to stand on its own. I ended up breaking through it so that it would stand.
|
snowman Ornament AltThe ornament isn't an opaque color so it was hard to make it look as defined as in real life. To fix this I played around with levels in Photoshop. It was a lot colder out than I expected it to be. My fingers were getting too cold to take the pictures. Luckily, I only had a few more pictures to take.

This is a little vial of gold flakes I got on one of my vacations. It was in a little shop where you could crack open geodes and sift through dirt to find gold. There's a small bridge that crossed a creek in. My neighborhood so I took the picture there.
|
With this one, I wanted to play with perspective lines. I chose this view because it had less going on in the background. I still cropped out some of the background. I couldn't get a completely straight on shot because the ledge of the bridge was in the way. I had to be careful not to knock it off the ledge.

For this picture, I wanted to make the candy cane to almost seem like one of the trees. Again, keeping it in focus was difficult because of the angle and positioning of the camera. The original picture was a little washed out. To make it look how it did in real life I increased the vibrancy in Photoshop. I also cropped out the bottom because there was extra plastic hanging off of it.

I wanted to take a picture of it on my Christmas tree but the lighting wasn't good enough in my house. I found a random pine tree instead. It was starting to get dark, so the lighting was a problem here too. I used levels to fix this issue. I cropped the bottom of this picture as well.
