First project (selfie and five places)
VS
Remembering My Roots
The image I chose to use in this double exposure project is of a tree in my neighborhood. My grandfather was the first president of the co-op and he planted the majority of the larger trees there. It's always nice to see these trees and remember him. I erased part of my face so that more of the sky and branches would show through. This was to show the deeper connection I have with them.
I took my selfie for this image against a neutral background, unlike the selfie I used for our first project. I also used the various lasso tools better in this one because the edges weren't as severe. While I was able to adjust the opacity of different layers in my first selfie project, I was able to achieve a better effect in our final project by changing the opacity as well as the blending mode. My first selfie project was also more chaotic than my last. Finally, I was able to use a layer mask to erase, as opposed to just using the eraser.
